More about CBD Flower

But before you switch to Hemp for cooking, it will be advisable to understand the complex herb in order to make the most use of it. So, Hemp has a very peppery and herbaceous taste. The trichomes present in the flower stores the CBD making it a superfood. What we also need to keep in mind is that the trichomes also store THC-A. THC-A, when heated to a certain temperature in order to make it lose its acid molecules can change to THC – a psychoactive compound. However, the amount of THC-A is so low in Hemp that even if it is heated or decarboxylated, the psychoactive effect will remain negligible and unnoticeable.

CBD Flower Oil for Cooking

The easiest way to add CBD rich Hemp in your food is by making a hemp cooking oil. People around the world follow different methods and have different sets of instructions for us. But what we need to focus on is the fact that we are creating not just a ‘mixture’ of Hemp and oil. We are ‘infusing’ the Hemp in the oil, so all the benefits of the CBD rich hemp go into our food.

Best way of adding CBD flower to your cooking medium at home

Clean Your Flower Buds

While adding CBD flower to your oil/ butter, you need to make sure that your flower buds are clean. Take a French Press, add your flower buds and soak it completely in distilled water for two to three days. Change the water twice a day. Once the water is clear, rinse the buds and move them to a salad spinner to remove any extra water.

Decarb Your Flower Buds

Place your cleaned buds on a tray and put it in a preheated oven for baking at the temperature of 120 degrees Celsius. Also, do not forget to cover your buds with a loosely packed aluminium foil to retain its odour.

CBD flowers are ready to infuse

Add the dried and baked buds to a French Press and add your oil/ butter on top of it. Take a pot, fill it with water. Heat the water and bring it to a boil. Now, place the French Press in a standing position in the pot. Make sure that the water level in the pot does not exceed the level of oil in the press. Heat the pot for some time and let the press steep in it for 2 hours or so.

Strain Your Oil/ Butter and Use

After 2 hours, strain the mixture and remove the buds from the oil/ butter. Use it as a medium for your cooking at home and treat your anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pains.

Things to Keep in Mind While Cooking with CBD Rich Oil

Now that you know how to make your own canna-oil and canna-butter, there are certain things to remember while cooking with CBD flower-infused oil and butter–

Take It Slow

You should always start with a small amount of CBD flower buds. Go for weaker extractions. If you see any adverse effects like dizziness or headaches, then you should probably make a cut in your dose.

Make Sure You Get The Right CBD Flower

While making a purchase, you should always check for the organic certification of these flowers. Never use them for consumption without cleaning.

Decarb Is Very Crucial

You should know that the CBD that is present in the trichomes is not active until the flower is decarboxylated. And, in order to get full effects of CBD, you should make sure that your buds are fully decarboxylated. For that, time and temperature are very important.

Timing Matters A Lot

While infusing Hemp in oil, timing and temperature matter a lot. You need to let the flower buds steep in the oil for at least 3 hours at a low simmer (approx. 160-200 degrees C). Use a kitchen thermometer for keeping track of the temperature.

Filter Your Oil With Care

You should always allow your infused oil to drip slowly and never squeeze the filter cloth or strainer. This can change the consistency and extraction of the baked material in the oil. Be patient.

Consult Your Doctor

If you are on any medication related to your health issues, always consult your doctor before switching to CBD oil. Certain medicines can combine with CBD making them stronger and causing side-effects.

These are the things you need to know about cooking with CBD flowers. So do not hold yourself back and start using it right away.
